Atsuko Tanaka – The Ikon Gallery Birmingham

Having only recently become aware of the existence of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, I decided to visit it this afternoon and happened upon the first UK retrospective exhibition of Japanese artist Atsuko Tanaka (1932–2005).

The Ikon Gallery is a modern gallery space set within a beautiful neo-gothic building. It houses not only two floors of exhibition space but a wonderful book store and cafe (nice large outdoor seating area also).
I did also observe that the male receptionist is a major hottie.
The Ikon Shop contains a sizeable range of niche art, fashion and design books amongst other items that arty types would like. I was extremely pleased to spot this in the illustration section!
