Divas, Darlings, and Nudes

Shano Art

To say I have struggled with what to put at the top of this blog from the huge catalogue of art available from Shano is a massive understatement.

I am delighted and honoured to be have been given permission by renowned artist Shano to profile her art in this blog and now my biggest challenge is going to be how to stop myself from creating a blog entry that is about 100 scrolls deep, rammed to the rafters with Shano delights. Plus to try and retain some dignity whilst I rant on about how great she is…..

I chose this one above simply because it looks a tad like me (yeah, I wish!) ….the main resemblence being the wine glass and phone…yabbering away for an hour at a time to my sister, neither of us taking a breath and constantly interrupting one another.

I’ve followed the work of Shano for about five/six years now. A long time ago when I first started my journey into the world of business and design I stumbled upon Shanos work, a much smaller gallery at this point, and was immediately enthralled. I remain equally enthralled today and I haven’t yet in this time come across anything as original and striking as Shano’s creations.

Shano says;
“In the year 2000, out of necessity, I decided to paint for a living. It was a rocky start and I had difficulty finding my niche and personal style.”

Well that explains the smaller portfolio I saw when I first happened upon the world of Shano…she had only been in operation a year or two when I first found her website.

Some of Shano’s earliest works featured the cat women and the Divas you see below…I’m not sure it this exact catwoman is one of her first though….an old woman’s memory and all…;)

Shanos work was the first art of this style and standard I had ever seen and I was immediately transfixed by this ‘pop art style’ – Shano is definitely one of my earliest and most profound influences and I can only dream of ever reaching this level of talent.

  • Ramona Lisa:

    Shano is not only a brilliantly talented artist, she is also a wonderful friend!
    No pretense, no condesension, no big head, just a lovely, down to earth, honest, and funny woman! Hopefully everyone already surmised that from her paintings!

  • I’ve only spoken to her about twice by email, once about five years ago to exclaim my admiration and just recently to beg to showcase her images.

    The fact that she bothers to answer me shows how nice she is as so many artists don’t bother to answer if you contact them to say you admire their work.

    Anyone visiting her blog can see how funny and honest she is http://artbyshano.blogspot.com/

    I see you have an art website in the making Ramona Lisa, when are you going to unveil this to us? ;-) )
