Illustrator Showcase – Caroline Phillips
I just spotted these amazing haircare packaging designs for Percy & Reed on the best packaging design blog in the entire world (The Dieline).

Thankfully (and they don’t always) the Dieline not only advised us who the agency behind the work was (Smith & Milton), but the actual illustrator herself also ; which is the incredibly talented Caroline Phillips. Read the rest of this entry »
Our Day at Artsfest 2011

WELL, I’ll start of by saying booooooo!!! and whining that the highlight of my day (Birmingham Royal Ballet on the Centenary Square stage) got cancelled at the last minute due to an epic downpour for a full 30mins directly before they were due to go on. Water got onto and under the stage and health and safety prevented them from performing.
Boooooooooooooo!!
Oh well, luckily I was enjoyng a meal in Pizza Express during the downpour so at least didn’t get drenched myself, and I had a good day overall anyway. Here are my photos and video footage from parts of the Artsfest event

Atsuko Tanaka – The Ikon Gallery Birmingham

Having only recently become aware of the existence of the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham, I decided to visit it this afternoon and happened upon the first UK retrospective exhibition of Japanese artist Atsuko Tanaka (1932–2005).
Further below you can view photographs I’ve taken of the exhibition.
The Ikon Gallery is a modern gallery space set within a beautiful neo-gothic building. It houses not only two floors of exhibition space but a wonderful book store and cafe (nice large outdoor seating area also).
I did also observe that the male receptionist is a major hottie. Read the rest of this entry »
Lulu Self Publishing

Yesterday I was really excited to receive delivery of my daughters first published ‘book’ in time for her 10th birthday party this weekend.
She has always been a HUGE book lover, and from the moment she cottoned onto the fact that I have the ability to turn one of stories into a real book (since she was about 5yrs) she’s been begging me to do it just about every year since, so I’ve finally done it!
Below is the finished article ready to be gift wrapped: Read the rest of this entry »
Baa Baa Australia; A Design Story

We talked, we laughed, we cried, oh how we cried. Ok, this story isn’t QUITE that exciting, but I’ve found it rather a nice ride that’s for sure
I want to tell you (and show you) all about Baa Baa Australia who approached me in May about offering them a front end web design service for their new business selling their own brand of Ugg boots for children.
They advised me that they already had a logo design created to be used within the design and immediately I cringed in fear. That’s the crying bit. Read the rest of this entry »

More Hot Rods, Burlesque & Rock n Roll
Last week I was browsing in Waterstones art section and could not resist buying the very beautiful ‘Kustom Graphics II: More Hot Rods, Burlesque and Rock ‘n’ Roll’.
This is a hefty hard back book filled with 252 pages of inspiring illustrations, posters and more from the world’s leading artists, and although it cost me an also hefty £30, it was worth it
This is the cover … Read the rest of this entry »
Naked Ladies

I went to the The Kings Theatre in Portsmouth to watch a burlesque show (The House of Burlesque) a couple of months ago and it was amazing, I’d love to go and see more shows like this.
So here is a naked lady I drew
The female form is just beautiful, so I may well draw more naked ladies.
