Gifts For Designers
Got a designer in your life? I bet they would love this for Christmas.
Spotted, by me, earlier today in my favourite book shop. The cover image …
London Olympics Logo Best Comments

I was just reading a new comment on David Aireys epic 2007 blog about the London Olympics logo and spotted a really witty comment mocking the design.
You know what there are some funny people out there (Not all of them intentionally so). Here are some of the funniest comments out of the 244 currently posted;
Ian Stewart, on June 4th, 2007 David, I don’t know what you’re talking about. This logo totally encompasses the punk rock spirit London has been feeling since The Clash and The Sex Pistols made their debut. I think the 1981 London Olympics will be a big success.
Oh, wait, it’s the 2012 Olympics. Sorry, this logo sucks. Read the rest of this entry »
Always keep a Dandy Handy
Congratulations to awesomely talented writer and comic artist Andy Fanton who has his comic strip George Vs Dragon published in The Dandy today.
Now, if you are going to congratulate someone, why not go over the top about it? So hey, look! I’m also ‘in’ The Dandy
What is Identity?
I’m rather bedazzled by the way in which 1970′s cult TV series Monkey sums up ‘Identity’ in it’s opening narrative here. How bizarre.
Designer Children’s Book
I was in Waterstones (love that shop) again yesterday and saw this lovely little pretentious book from DwellStudio (had never heard of them before).

It’s all about clean modern lines, stunning colours (of course), and about ten times more stylish than the average toddler book. Perfect for the children of ‘artist types’

Logolicious describes itself as “A fantastic pocket-size guide to logo design, Logolicious is an indispensable tool for anyone interested in logo design, branding, or merchandising.”

Off Topic – I Heart Wood
‘I Heart Wood’ just followed me on Twitter and so I landed on their website, because, you know … I do actually *heart* wood, my house is full of the stuff
Their blog is amazing, look at this!
Suddenly I stare down at my dirty grey tawdry plastic keyboard and it feels VASTLY lacking. I wonder how that wooden one would look encrusted in things that I eat over my desk?

Designer’s CV – this is how it’s done

A few days ago I was harping on about receiving really really boring postal and emailed CVs from students wanting either job or work experience placements.
Expressing wonderment as to why on earth I was receiving sheets of white paper with black writing all over them; no attempt at ‘design flair’ in their application/CV and a complete absence of portfolio to show me either.
