David Bowie – The Stars Are Out Tonight
I’m really liking the video for David Bowie’s new song The Stars Are Out Tonight. The song itself isn’t bad, but it’s the actual video that is impressing me.
Tilda Swinton is amazing in it, and I adore the nod to his delightfully eccentric movie ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ on the magazine cover. If you’ve never watched The Man Who Fell To Earth, do so, it’s a cult classic.
And also, if you’re a Bowie fan, V&A have released what looks like a pretty cool book to me. Read the rest of this entry »
Great Example Of Animation In Music Video
Here is another great example of great animation in a music video.
Children In Need – Party Rocking
Yeah, so they told me to dress my child ‘wacky’ for Children in Need at school tomorrow ….
Animation in Music Videos

Recently, especially since she released her outstanding new album in 2011 featuring the much lauded track ‘Wild Man‘ I’ve developed a renewed appreciation of Kate Bush and have been listening to her older songs also.
Not that I didn’t appreciate her before, but in my teen years (yep I’m THAT old) I listened to what I heard on Top of the Pops and that was about it, and never bought any of her albums and heard any of the songs outside of her (fabulous) hits.
I’ve just stumbled across another great track of hers, which is from the same album containing Wild Man. I was struck not only by the beautiful song, but the lovely animation that the uploader has set it to, which matches really well. This Academy Award winning animation is made by dutch animator, illustrator and director Michael Dudok de Wit and is called ‘Father and Daughter’. Read the rest of this entry »
Discovering Delilah
I discovered Delilah this week, and I’m really impressed by her. Here are two extremely different versions of my favourite track of hers ‘Breath’.
Both excellent.
Lykke Li – Breaking It Up
Really pleased to have just found this old track by Lykke Li that I’ve never heard before. I think it’s brilliant, as are many of their songs.
If you like this, also listen to their tracks ‘Until We Bleed’ and ‘Little Bit’.
Beautiful Classical Dubstep

A while ago I blogged about the gorgeous Nero Dubstep Symphony shown on the BBC.
This week I was sent an email by a producer called Dysphemic wanting me to listen to his own dubstep works with a classical violinist called Miss Eliza. I sort of wanted to listen, but then I got busy …
Thankfully they sent me up a second email harrassing me to listen to their stuff. AND I’m glad they did! Thanks guys!

Our Day at Artsfest 2011

WELL, I’ll start of by saying booooooo!!! and whining that the highlight of my day (Birmingham Royal Ballet on the Centenary Square stage) got cancelled at the last minute due to an epic downpour for a full 30mins directly before they were due to go on. Water got onto and under the stage and health and safety prevented them from performing.
Boooooooooooooo!!
Oh well, luckily I was enjoyng a meal in Pizza Express during the downpour so at least didn’t get drenched myself, and I had a good day overall anyway. Here are my photos and video footage from parts of the Artsfest event
