Becoming A Fashion Label

A while ago I told you about a new brand called Love In the Afternoon.
This is a designer vintage fashion label very serious about developing a high quality brand image to match and I was told this in no uncertain terms over a year ago when I first starting communicating with the owner in the winter of 2006.
It was with a lump in my throat and fear in my heart (ok, I’ll admit that I’m prone to sensationalist writing) that I started designing for Love in the Afternoon in the summer of 2007 – knowing that expectations were high and trying to push down fears of ‘I’m not good enough for these expectations’. Any designer will have suffered from these thoughts far more than once in their career.
The end result of this brand design exercise I’m extremely excited about. You can read about the beginnings of this brand design project here, which shows the logo design and web design portion of the project. It’s worth a look to view them close up, especially the web design, which is particularly striking.
I feel that it’s the start of a beautiful new brand, and recently we’ve just completed their stationery design and product labels for clothing and jewellery. See below, and note how I’ve ‘aged’ the designs?

Love in the Afternoon is due to officially launch in January and perhaps also to coincide with Valentines, and I for one am very excited, I’ll keep you posted. I hope the website is also able to launch in the New Year, it’s always nice to see a web design in it’s live form.
