Electric Blue - Welcome Back!

Riding fast on the back of oh-so-popular turquoise electric blue has made a welcome return to the high street fashion stores (very welcome in my eyes) and is set to be the hottest shade this season.
The last time I remember so many electric blue garments available to purchase was in 1996. Why do I remember this so well?
Well 1996 was the year I got married and I distinctly remember wearing a skin tight, low cut, shockingly short mini-dress out on my hen night (possibly at the end of June?) and I remember the stores having plentiful electric blue for purchase prior to my purchase of this dress.
Since that time I can’t remember seeing much of this colour in the ‘trendy stores’ and so it’s been a long sabbatical for electric blue. I have promptly purchased myself a stunning electric blue, puff sleeve top and have worn it twice already (coincidentally the second time on a friends hen night two weekends ago in Dublin!)
What I’m wondering is whether this dormant fashion trend will influence commercial graphic design or not, it’s certainly influenced me already, see my last blog! Design shown below.
I believe the reason for such a long gap between floods of electric blue, is that it’s a strong colour, and not many people can carry it off, hence it possibly struggles to do well in fashion sales.
Some popular fashion chains in a tizz over electric blue include Asos, and Top Shop to name just a couple;
- ASOS Dress
-ASOS Jacket
-TOPSHOP Cami
-TOPSHOP Bikini
