My New Office!
Finally after months and months of banging on about it to all and sundry, I have installed and moved into my new office! It’s at the very bottom of my long garden and overlooks a big pond.
TA DAHHHH!!!

It was constructed Monday and I moved in yesterday (keen much?), I have more furniture coming this evening that I’ll put up tonight.
In the big space behind my desk area on the opposite side is going to be a client meeting/chillout zone. It will house a small kitchen area and next to it will be two comfy modern stripy armchairs and the wall on that one side will be painted a warm mocha shade.
I may well dot some art round the walls at some point, printed from client illustrative projects most likely.
I’ll have a second pc next to mine in front of the desk to the right (haven’t had time to set it up yet) for freelancers/contractors and work experience people – speaking of which, I have one coming in on Monday, a lovely girly that came last summer also
Oh yes, this also goes some way to explain why I’ve not blogged a word in three weeks. Busy busy busy…
EDIT – 23/7/2009
Ok, I’ve got my other bits now! This is the other side now (that’s my kids lounging on the seats), just need to paint the wall behind the chairs in Mocha.
My sister made me the most gorgeous chair cushions that you can’t see under my kids bums, they are very ‘Cath Kidston’ but actually even better … my sister is soooo artistic and talented.

The View…. Very woodlandy…

Awesome.
What are the tea-making facilities like?
looking good Amanda! Can I ask where you purchased it? Nice view as well!
That’s really nice Amanda! You’ve made me jealous now. I want my own garden office
Did you see my new photo?
I’m totally in love with my office, have been showing the whole world and have this evening strung some round lantern style fairy lights outside now also (round the tree trunk you see in front of the office …the one with the oil lantern on)
I’m very ‘into’ outdoor lighting. Give me a year and it’ll be like Chinese New Year outside this office. I just love outdoor lighting.
Plus I need lots of lighting installed so I can avoid treading on the frogs as I go from my office to the house … I pass our large pond and there are frogs everywhere. I so don’t want to tread on one.
I bought it from a wonderful supplier (definitely the best value for money for attractiveness of the structure and quality of the build …ie insulation and security. Believe me I looked very hard for many months) – called Booths Garden Studios
http://www.boothsgardenstudios.co.uk – can’t recommend them enough, as I said, I did my research and you won’t get better value for money or service.
Amanda
Love the chairs! Excellent choice!
Ikea ….all the way. What else could I afford after that office … ha ha
Hi, I have sent them an enquiry. The office is amazing and the prices are too!!!
I sooo want one. I love the fact that they keep costs down by not doing site visits. These are such a waste of time and delay the whole thing. I dont see why these days I cant just send of a picture or two of the are and my measurements. This goes for outbuildings, windows, doors, carpets, any DIY really.
And they dont send out brochures also to save money. So you can be sure that all the money is in the product/service and not wasted on stuff and time that can be saved.
They do NEED a new website though, perhaps we should do a deal with your front end and my backend (that does sound a bit rude – or is that just me?!!).
Brill, I hope you manage to get one, mine is such a delight to me
Yeah, their website definitely needs re-designing to look more professional, but it’s always a tricky one to say to someone “Hey, your website could be much better than that”. There are a lot of people you could say that to.
They are overrun with orders at the moment, so they may well respond that actually, the website doesn’t need improving at all when they are doing so well that clearly the website isn’t hampering them.
Although their website isn’t much to look at, if you sign up to their newsletter you will see they are very proactive about using that as a way of building sales. They send out loads of very good and very persuasive emails via their newsletter.
They do other things like PR also – on places like http://www.shedworking.co.uk – when they release a new product or instance, so they seem pretty active online generating sales in that way and for this type of business, it probably doesn’t matter that much what the website looks like when people visit it, as long as the information is there is good and persuasive (I find it very persuasive) and the photos are persuasive also. The photos probably being the most important aspect.
That was the surprising thing, they are so switched on when it comes to marketing and had great website content. I did tell them what I thought about the website. I sent them a list of bugs and then idea’s for enhancement. But like you say if they are doing well then we cant argue that the website was doing them much harm!
Like you say the photos were the biggest plus point, but they are too large and should be arranged as a nice gallery with a pop up. They would be able to get more on a page and we wouldn’t have to wait for an age for their page to download…
newsletter – bit of a missed opportunity as the sign up could be higher up the page so not to miss it…
I am having a dilemma with placing an order because my garden requires a size that they dont do (I wanted 7 by 13 and they only do even numbers)
What size if yours? I cant imagine how big the space will be either…so going to see one at the weekend that has been put up locally.
Wow very nice! Such a relaxing place to work. This will truly do your creativity wonders!
Thanks, here’s hoping it will drive creativity as you say!
Some nice illustrative work you have Kathea ….click the link guys.
Amanda
Loving the pond, you can have a cooling dip should summer ever appear!
wow! you just made my day by posting your office pictures. certainly this is desirable .just wondering, if you can expand to another storey if you want?
WOW! That is soooo cool! I want one now!
Cool dip ??? Into frog and toad infested filthy waters? lol…hmmmm …. I’ll invite you round on a sunny day and see if you fancy a dip, lol
Another storey to the office: Nope they don’t offer that with this supplier, and if you read up on planning permission in your area it’s doubtful you’d ever get planning permission for a two storey office in a residential area. Maybe if you had your own plot of substantial land you might get away with it.
Thanks Helen
Very cool office Amanda, I wish I had my very own office space, not much room in my place I’m afraid though
maybe one day, perhaps
All the best.
Damion.
