We Are ‘Ask’ not ‘MacDonalds’

I can’t count how many times I’ve been asked when first communicating with a new graphic design client with regards to how fast designs can be delivered; what our ‘timescales’ are.

Usually before finally been given the tightest deadline known to man that no design provider on this earth could ever manage without reducing their standard of design, or customer service – or both.

Now consider this when very first planning ahead for your project, when it comes to your design provider, do you want to be served by ‘Ask’ or by ‘Macdonalds’?

Now I know that actually you want to be served by Ask Restaurant rather than MacDonalds, so why walk into Ask and much to their discomfort try and force them to behave like MacDonalds?

Instead of being greeted and seated you would perhaps prefer to find your own seat next to some artfully grungy teenagers who have already been nursing their cokes for 2 hours in the best seats?

Perhaps rather than waiting for say 15 minutes to sample the delicious offerings from the Ask menu you would prefer instead to demand that they russle you something up in a 2 minute time slot aka MacDonalds style instead. Never mind that it’s clogging your arteries and the taste could never be described as refined or impressive … as long as you get it in your 2 minutes you are going to push Ask Restaurant for that faster food service?

What is the point in paying Ask prices if you are going to then demand MacDonalds service and food quality?

What’s the point in paying Truly Ace prices, and then trying to get us to perform in the same manner as Logoworks (who can get six logo design concepts to you in 5 days) and with about the same standard of originality?

You get my drift I’m sure.

  • Completely understand your point! It’s the same as being forced to meet deadlines on my design course, there’s nothing worse than completing work I KNOW I could have done so much better with more time.

I’m suprised I’ve never heard of Ask restraunt! I googled them and found they have nearly 120 restraunts across the UK – so I can’t believe I’ve never seen one when out an about.

    Great comparison though!

  • Ha ha, I wondered when writing this if everyone has heard of Ask.

They are everywhere yes, you should go for a meal in one, they are really nice. Lovely food, lovely environment and fairly reasonably priced as well.
