Where Is Tara & The Weather Pops

Tara Roskell & The Weatherpops

Respected blogger Tara Roskell seems to have disappeared from Cyberspace for 7 months now.

Born from 15 years of graphic design experience, her once extremely high profile Graphic Design Blog featured it’s last blog in October 2008, not a word since as far as I can tell, and Tara’s last personal blog was dated May 2008.

Any graphic designer will remember well the hay days of Graphic Design Blog and yet there seems no mention at all in the design community as to why the blogging has stopped and what Tara is doing now? I for one am very curious.

I hope Tara is well and has enjoyed success with her fantastic Weatherpop characters, shown below;

These are some very fine illustrative works by Tara and she very cleverly explains on the website how they are available for licensing and could be used for;

* Children’s clothes and shoes
* Children’s toys and stationery
* Children’s animation
* Children’s food products
* Children’s products – school bags, lunch bags, flasks, picnicware
* Greeting cards and gift products
* Children’s books (one book is already written and illustrated)
* Educational/learning products

The characters yes I agree would be great for any of those applications. If they haven’t been snapped up already I’m surprised.

Visit the Weatherpops website for more images, it’s a really great collection of illustrations and I think the Weatherpops logo is excellent also.

  • I’d noticed this too. I do hope she’s ok? :S

    I rarely get an RSS update from David Airey whose blog I must’ve read a dozen times over. There are some great articles and tips on his site.

  • I hope she’s ok also, and perhaps has just landed some amazing job and has thought ‘stuff that blog now’!

    David Airey has a great blog and it’s so popular also because you can tell he’s a nice person as well and so all his comments are very considered, polite, and respectful – and because of that people feel comfortable to comment on his blogs.

    I think you have to sign up for email subscription at David Airey if you want RSS updates? I just have him and my other blogs in my reader for now so I go and check it out when I get time. Which is unfortunately not very often!

    I only subscribe to about six blogs and two of those are David Airey and his other blog Logo Design Love. I’ve just this week subscribed to Andrew Kelsall’s (www.andrewkelsall.com) blog though also as that’s looking really really good since I last looked at it months ago. I’m going to try to find some time to read some of his posts and make some some comments.

  • I wondered what had happened to “Graphic Design Blog” awhile back as well, Tara used to post quite often and her posts always attracted debate and comments. Hope she is ok!

  • Hey Amanda

    I just talked to Tara and this is what she said: “Hi Mark, I just ran out of steam and have been concentrating on other things”

    So she is alright :o )

  • Brilliant Mark, thank you very much for letting us know.

  • Tara:

    Hi Amanda

    Thanks for asking about me! Yes, like Mark said I just seemed to run out of steam, a bit of writers block. I have found an agent for the Weather Pops who are currently trying to help me get it out there. Hope things are going well for you.

    Best Tara

  • Hiya! :)

    I hope you manage to get somewhere with the Weather Pops because they are so good, do let me know if you have any success with them as I’d like to blog about it.

    Amanda
