I wouldn't bother to visit a Banksy exhibition myself, because I just don't love his work that much to be honest :-))

I heard that there has been a large queue since the exhibition started usually 4,000+ each day. He is a world renown artist now and this is his largest exhibition to date, so not really a surprise. Why didn't you take a look Amanda? I going along this week all being well.

I was in Bristol this weekend actually for a break away (I love Bristol) and as we walked past the museum on the way home on Sunday there was a massive queue. I was surprised that so long after the opening there is still queing going on.

It was the weekend of the hot air balloon fiesta however, so I guess people probably came into Bristol for the balloon fair and then decided to add Banksy to it also ...so far more tourists in town that weekend than usual.

I noted something interesting high up at the front of the museum as I passed: http://www.nerdbanite.com/2009/08/ronald-mcdonald-bristo/ .... seemed fitting to view it on a Sunday morning after everyone (myself included) had been partying the night away on Saturday. I did actually star hard for a while to make sure it wasn't an actual person up there rather than another Banksy exhibit!

Apparently it's a new addition to the collection.

Thanks for the link, I do like that Jesus picture, it's quite attractive to look at compared to much of his work actually.

I have a soft spot for Banksy but then I have followed his work since around 1999/2000 when I used to work in a design agency just off Soho Square. I used to spot these spray stenciled monkeys with different messages, nobody at work knew who he was when I asked around and a quite liked that.
The fact that he has stumbled into becoming an artist who commands high prices for his work is quite nice also.

I really like where he has come from and I think this is down to his thought process and comment on society. Yes some of it misses the mark massivily but when he gets it right I think that he is very relevant! My favourite piece is "Jesus with shopping bags" it's work like that, that I really admire. Here is a link to that piece if your happy to post it Amanda: http://www.thepicturebox.com.au/components/com_virtuemart/shop_image/product/Banksy_Jesus_Sho_49dd6fc1bebcb.jpg
