Decorating & Branding

I’ve been doing a lot of home decorating this month - well when I say that, I mean paying other people to decorate for me
….however there has been lots of time invested in planning, colour schemes, furniture shuffling and what not.
Hence the lack of much blogging this month - I’ve been seriously time stretched trying to plan these renovations whilst cover my workload and still blog at the same time.
I’m sitting here blogging in my newly decorated bedroom of my Victorian home (you know I like to blog in bed at night :)) and it’s just gorgeous. Imagine Phantom of the Opera meets The National Trust.
I have gorgeous heritage green walls, gold ceiling and all neatly framed by plaster moulded coving and ceiling rose - hanging from the rose is this stunner from John Lewis

The floor is stripped and varnished wood and our bedroom furniture is antique Victorian mahogany with brass and black metal bed. The wardrobe looks a tad like the wardrobe from The Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe.
Next to me a black candelabra flickers and so I’m blogging by candlelight. Shame my husband is ruining my ambience by noisely hammering the keys of his PSP next to me playing some inane game.
Your Office
Soon I hope to move into a new office space and will be decorating that also and that style will be Modern meets Homely/Friendly, it will be mainly white, but with some splashes of hot pink and black. Next time you decorate your office give it some serious thought about what you want it to say about your business.
For instance my new office aims to be Modern meets Homely/Friendly because I want to show that I offern modern fresh design, but with a friendly and trustworthy service. What should your office say?
A Few Tips For Office Space Branding
1. Create a well branded strong reception area/welcome area. Use internal signage or printed canvases to display your company logo and other brand imagery and colours.
2. Take care that your company colours are appropriate to be used ‘fully’ in other areas of the office, for instance certain colours are known to increase concentration and reduce eye strain such as blues and greens. If your brand colours are red, painting a wall of the working area in this shade may be good for branding, but bad for staff productivity.
3. Is your brand young and innovative? If so go for young and innovative furniture design in your office. Does your brand aim to appeal to those looking for something that is dependable and with a hint of tradition and history? If so you can also reflect this in your furniture choices by sticking to something a bit more traditional in style.
4. Finally if stuck with creating the right look that underlines your brand idealogy consider hiring an expert and these guys look amazing! Have a drool at their portfolio
