Eco-Font - Environmentalists Gone Crazy?
Can a font be environmentally friendly?
Ok, lets think hard about the ways in which we imagine, in our minds, that a font could be environmentally friendly.
- Perhaps it could walk to your pc instead of using up electricity by being downloaded from a font library?
- Maybe the font was created in a solar and/or wind powered office?
No to my silly suggestions, in fact a font can be more eco friendly by simply taking up less ink. I introduce the wonderfully titled ‘Ecofont’.
Eco font aims to reduce the amount of ink you use and thus extend the lifetime of your ink cartridges. It’s not an entirely silly concept if you used it all the time for all of your business printing as it does reduce your ink use by around 20%.

On a unrelated note, I really like the graphics and presentation of the Ecofont website and whilst I would love to mock their creation (come on, you know you want to mock it too), I have a feeling it comes from the right place in their heart as they do allow you to download it for free, even for commercial use.
