Fonts you ‘USED’ TO LOVE

I’m going to run you through some fonts that used to be really cool and popular, but then got used by a shed load of people and designers also…. and now we all hate them and as designers we shudder in horror if a client suggests that they might like to use them for their brand design.
Like this one for above for example. This a few years ago was the epitomy of cool and originality…..especially if you had a fashion site or boutique of some sort.
I actually fear that I may have started the trend for this font (yes I know, my ego… my ego) as I don’t remember seeing it around much when I first started using it and my clients got all excited at the sight of it’s beautiful form.
On the surface of it, it’s still a beautiful and original font, but here lies the problem; absolutely everyone agreed, and then they all used it, and now it’s everywhere I turn, along with this thing (directly below)

……………. and now it just looks tacky when I look at it. I will admit that an old client of mine is still using this first font (the first one above) within their logo design. They have developed a very successful business since the launch using this design, but the sight of their logo is slightly starting to bother me.
In their case it still doesn’t look too bad as it’s not in a ‘girly’ context (don’t ask me how, it just isn’t really) but the other day I was seriously considering broaching the subject of an update to their font, as I’m not sure it’s quite right for them any more.
These below are also over-used ….

The upper one is just plain overused by internetty type of businesses (I’ll admit I used it myself not that long ago for the Truly Ace brand but finally had to change it as it became more and more dated) and the second one should never be used ever, it should be burned in my opinion.
It seems to be used a lot by school type of sites and I shake with horror if a client so much as hints that they might like to use it. No business can ever be taken seriously with this font.
So what fonts do I like? Take a look at these below, I find them very beautiful, modern, and usable.

loving Choco Darling – I can visualise that in a logo.
Is it coco or choco?
Oh yes, I’ve put Choco in the pretend logo image and ‘coco’ in my list of fonts ….It’s Choco in the image, but it’s not a real company, it’s just a fantasy company name I imagine would go well with with particular font and colour scheme.
The actual font is called Jane Austen.
I think that is actually usable as a company name ‘Choco Darling’ – a confectioner, a fashion line, beauty line, etc etc.
By the way I love your company tagline ‘Caffeine fueled design!’, very good! You will like my post on 20 signs you are a professional designer…
I’m now going to dig through your comprehensive website, because I’m nosey like that

Please feel free to dig, Thanks for the nice comment. I’ll return the comment by saying I like your work and I love the fact that you’re a self taught designer… me too!
Thanks
I’ve noticed quite a number of designers are self taught, and I’m sure you’ve noticed this yourself, that even those that have a qualification end up having to learn loads by themselves/from a mentor when they leave University anyway because the courses don’t seem to teach them half of what they need to learn!
