Maccy D’s New Brand Shocker
I was driving past our local McDonalds today and was stunned to see completely new branding. You might see the same in a local MacDonalds yourself - it is COMPLETELY different.
The exterior is a far more sophisticated bottle green (a bit ‘Marks and Spencers’ to be honest) and although I haven’t been in yet I could see from my car window trendy (lime colour I think?) leather sofas and the whole vibe is far more reminiscent of a coffee shop for trendy urbanites. I’ll try to find time to get over there and take some photos.
I think it’s one of the most radical brand updates I’ve ever seen, and clearly McDonalds is keen to change it’s image from cheap and cheerful to something more sophisticated. I wonder if prices will rise in line with this over time?
It’s a good move for our local branch anyway, which is surrounded by the trendy coffee shops of Costa Coffee and Starbucks, and particularly damaging is the Subway shop that moved in about a year ago offering cheap food also directly across the street.

UPDATE - Friday 30.3.07
I was out shopping with my son this morning and walked past the window on the way home, forgetting that I was planning to take photos and indeed I saw a stunning interior comprising of a lot of lime colours, but all other colours as well. It was simply a brilliant brilliant interior.
So I didn’t have my proper camera, but had my phone and so took these;

This has been shown somehwere on the mcdonalds website for quite a while now. Thought it was just america but obviously it must be coming here. Bet the food doesn’t get any better thought lol

Apologies, i also forgot to add that on the site, it showed a brand new interior as well with a ‘retro’ sort of look to it

Well the interior on the MacDonalds site, that I’ve shown above is very red and retro, but I’m sure when I drove past our local branch it was lime green and brown furniture inside.
So maybe this is the UK look and feel only? I can’t imagine it differs from branch to branch.
I’m looking forward to giving it closer inspection over the weekend, I’ll try not to forget to do that and to take my camera. The only thing is that I have a feeling it will be rammed full of people eager to visit it now it’s just be changed….maybe I’ll try on Sunday.
