I think the people who are directly involved in the colour choices and manage to mix over 1700 colours that are all different quite amazing really. That's got to be some serious hard work!

well, i have read something similar and such articles never fail to amaze me in the sense that how do we exactly define a colour visually and assigning it a unique code.

Those are exactly what I was looking for!

Wow, I didn't realise that either! A local printing company I visited were using a swatch that looked about 20 years old! Maybe I should tell them too! lol

The most reasonably priced Pantone swatch books I found are these at the link below.

http://shop.colourconfidence.com/product.php?xProd=1026&xSec=1

This is the best price I found them at and I think there are a really good base set for a graphic designer that doesn't want to spend the earth on every single Pantone book out there.

Apparently one should replace Pantone books every single year as they can fade and become 'more yellow' over time thus rendering your books inaccurate. In addition you should keep them in the dark to reduce their deterioration as much as possible.

Hope that helps

Thanks Danny, I could have gone into a lot more detail believe me, but I didn't want to totally bore the pants off people :)

How cool are those Pantone gifts, I wish the Rubik's cube actually existed for sale.

Another great read! I was aware of the basics of pantone printing, however you've really gone into some detail with this one!
